Allsup Presents Web Event on Finances for Individuals Living with Chronic Illness and Disabilities
Belleville, Ill. (PRWEB) September 29, 2016 -- Allsup, a nationwide Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation company, will host the web event, “True Help Claiming Power to Improve Your Finances,” on Thursday, Oct. 20, from noon to 1:30 p.m. CST.
Patient advocates and resource experts from the National Stroke Association, the Colon Cancer Alliance, Caregiver Action Network and Allsup will provide information on employment and disability, the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program, and financial resources for people with disabilities and caregivers.
“It is clear that financial struggles are one of the most difficult aspects facing stroke survivors and their families,” said Julia Richards, senior manager of stroke survival programs at the National Stroke Association. “However, when looking a bit deeper, it is apparent that the loss of vocational identity and resulting turmoil is equally devastating. The National Stroke Association is pleased to have the opportunity to share some of our tools and resources to help individuals and their families during a very difficult time.”
The Colon Cancer Alliance’s Blue Hope Award and Financial Resource guide are examples of resources specifically geared for and available to individuals with disabilities.
“The Colon Cancer Alliance is proud of our continuing partnership with Allsup as we work together to connect patients with the best resources available,” said certified patient navigator and colorectal cancer survivor Crawford Clay. “A diagnosis like colon cancer can be devastating financially as well as physically. Copays, deductibles and transportation costs are the last things you want to deal with when you’re fighting cancer. The good news is that there is hope and help out there.”
Help includes education about SSDI—an important resource for individuals who can no longer work due to disability. SSDI benefits are often a lifeline for former workers, but the application process can be confusing and time consuming. Most people who apply are denied. “True Help Claiming Power to Improve Your Finances” will provide information and tips on how to best navigate the SSDI application process.
The interactive web event will include group chats, a live Q-and-A with the experts, instant polls and opportunities to win prizes. After Oct. 20, individuals can access the program on-demand and submit questions to receive an email reply.
