Allterra Solar Hosts Mother’s Day Event
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 02, 2014 -- Santa Cruz-based solar company Allterra Solar is proud to announce its partnership with the women’s economic empowerment non-profit, Rising International, to spur local action that will have a global impact. Allterra Solar will donate $500 to Rising International for each Rising supporter who goes solar with Allterra. Rising International supporters are now able to go solar with zero money out of pocket, save money on electric bills and curb carbon emissions while generating funding for Rising International’s anti-poverty programs.
Thursday, May 8, the two organizations will kick off their partnership with the “Brighten Her World Mother’s Day Party.” Allterra’s office and parking lot will be transformed into a vibrant global marketplace filled with unique Mother’s Day gifts made by mothers rising above poverty, war and human trafficking in over 20 countries.
Event attendees will find meaningful Mother’s Day gifts such as jewelry, made by mothers rescued from brothels in the red light district of Kolkata, India; gorgeous silk scarves, made by mothers living in an isolated and impoverished village in Matenwa, Haiti; and dog collars, hand-beaded by mothers in Cape Town, South Africa.
This new-formed alliance means brighter futures for impoverished women both locally and globally. Rising International trains women in Santa Cruz County to run their own Rising International businesses. These local entrepreneurs take pride in earning an income by helping the world’s poorest women sell their handmade goods. Every gift purchased at this special event impacts lives in the community, as well as around the world.
Marketplace shoppers will enjoy complimentary refreshments and a chance to win special Rising International Mother’s Day gifts by purchasing a raffle ticket for $5. Partygoers who sign up for a free solar estimate will receive 10 raffle tickets! Admission to the event is also free.
