NetZoomDC 14.3 includes new features in the area of inter-site network connectivity and automation of multiple rack replacements, as well as other product enhancements. In the latest release, asset management has been enhanced to visually manage ancillary devices such as Zero-RU devices or devices that mount on top of the rack like cameras or wireless routers, which are often not assigned valuable rack space. Support for ongoing innovation in rack design is also creating a compelling case for replacing existing racks with high density racks and smart racks. The new in-place replacement feature makes it easy for data center managers to mass replace their existing racks with new models.
In-Place Rack Replacement
With evolving trends in data center space optimization, data center managers are looking to replace their conventional racks with newer “smart racks.” In-Place Rack Replacement enables NetZoomDC users to batch replace one model of rack with another, while maintaining the configuration and connectivity of the devices within the rack. This convenience feature is designed to ease the workload and improve data accuracy of large-scale rack replacements.
High Density Rack Space Design
NetZoomDC takes into account the implementation of space-efficient rack design, including frame profile and shelving configuration for increased packing density. Rack Top and Zero-RU device mounting allows NetZoomDC users to mount the equipment on top as well as on the side of the racks, while fully accounting for their capacity utilization.
Double-Height Slots
NetZoomDC solves the traditional dilemma of how to model equipment that accepts double-height and half-height cards and blades. Now you can change the configuration of the chassis slot height from a single-height into a double-height in order to fit double-height cards, thereby increasing configuration flexibility.
Inter-Site Connectivity
NetZoomDC provides extensive multi-site and connectivity management capabilities to the users who manage globally-distributed data center sites. Inter-site connectivity allows users to connect sites via a single path or multiple connecting segments within the path. Waypoints can also be specified for street-by-street level route accuracy. NetZoomDC lets you visualize the cable types as well as the geo-location of the inter-site connections on the map interface. “NetZoomDC users who manage multiple geographically distributed sites will find the ability to visualize inter-site connectivity between the data centers important as it offers insight into the interdependencies between sites,” said Alan Schenwar, General Manager of Altima Technologies.
