Alvernia University Offering Bilingual Help With Federal Aid Forms
Reading, PA (PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- Bilingual staff members will be on hand to help families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form at Alvernia University on Saturday, Feb. 8. The annual "FAFSA & Fun" event is open to the public, and will be held in the lobby of Bernardine Hall from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Balancing an education with student debt can be daunting for some families. One way to get help is by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form. But each year, errors and omissions on FAFSA forms cost many students thousands of dollars in financial aid.
"FAFSA forms are very important, but they can be confusing — especially for students and parents who have never filled one out before," explains Christine Saadi, director of Student Financial Planning at Alvernia. "Financial planners will review the 2014-2015 form from start to finish and answer any questions along the way."
Nearly all colleges and universities across the country require FAFSA forms that are used to determine a student’s eligibility for federal, state and college-sponsored aid, including grants, educational loans and work-study programs. In order to be considered for most forms of financial aid, students must submit a new form each year.
The open "FAFSA & Fun" event at Alvernia is a free opportunity for students and their families to complete their forms with the help of financial aid experts. Bilingual staff will be on hand and attendees are encouraged to bring their 2013 tax information or W2 forms to complete FAFSA forms online. Computers will be available during the event.
