AMERGINT Awarded Software-Only Front End Processors Contract for Satellite Command and Control
Colorado Springs, CO (PRWEB) October 08, 2013 -- The Air Force recognizes the limitations of existing point-solution hardware front end processors. AMERGINT was selected for its innovative softFEP products. softFEP Applications perform command/telemetry processing and decommutation with reusable software devices to reduce development and operations costs.
Government organizations require affordable and flexible command and control systems to provide mission support for a wide variety of satellites. softFEP’s Change-Agility (TM), where customers can change and adapt the processing to support new requirements, is key to meeting this need. In addition, softFEP gives the Air Force the capability to run multiple software-only FEPs from a single commercial computer.
AMERGINT is uniquely qualified to provide the affordable Software-Only Front End Processor extensions based on its end-to-end softFEP solution. The softFEP architecture consolidates the functionality of several formerly separate products into a single economical, flexible, and sustainable framework. AMERGINT’s software applications for RF/IF Modems, Front End Processors, Data Recorders, Tracking Receivers, Network Gateways, Mission Data Processors, and Crypto Interface Units are all built on the same softFEP framework. The various softFEP Applications can run on the same computer platform or on separate servers. softFEP provides the super-scalability, redundancy and high availability desired by the Air Force.
Additionally, these same software devices provide simulation capability to train operators in real-world situations without the need for additional hardware. The simulation applications can run on the same commercial server platform. The benefits of a total software solution not only reduce the initial expense of the solution but also minimize the total cost of ownership for satellite command and telemetry processing systems.
