American Academy of Thermology Publishes Revised 2015 Guidelines for Neuro-Musculoskeletal Thermography and Sympathetic Skin Response Studies
Greenville, SC (PRWEB) June 30, 2015 -- The American Academy of Thermology (AAT) has published a set of revised Guidelines for Neuro Musculoskeletal Thermography and Sympathetic Skin Response Studies.*
The new peer-reviewed Guidelines, which reflect a major re-working of the original Guidelines that were first published in 2006, are intended to aid physicians and thermal technologists in the performance of medical infrared imaging, and in evaluating patients with neuromusculoskeletal complaints.

“Pre-existing vasomotor tone and vasomotor capacitance plays a significant role in thermoregulation, clinical symptomatology and manifestations of systemic illness,” commented Jeffrey J. Lefko, Executive Director of the AAT, which is headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina. “Infrared Thermal Imaging is the only non-invasive technology available to image and map microcirculatory shunting associated with these disorders. It can play an important role in clinical diagnosis and may be helpful distinguishing between central and peripheral changes affecting the sympathetic nervous system. Infrared SSR infrared imaging may also be valuable to document drug induced symptoms and paradoxical responses to sympathetic and peripheral nerve blockade.”
