American Consumer Credit Counseling Offers Five Ways Las Vegas Residents Can Vacation on a Budget
(PRWEB) July 23, 2015 -- Summer is well underway, and many Las Vegas families struggle to afford that much desired summer vacation without breaking the bank. Luckily, national financial education nonprofit American Consumer Credit Counseling has announced five ways that Las Vegas families can enjoy a budget-friendly “staycation.”
There’s no reason for Las Vegas residents to travel far, since they live in the entertainment capital of the world. Las Vegas has been rated the number two summer vacation destination in America, according to TheVacationGals.com. Even with casinos and nightclubs, Vegas is also a hot spot amongst American families. One of the city’s most visited destinations, Circus Circus was ranked in the top 10 most popular family vacation destinations in America by the Travel Channel.
“Las Vegas residents don't have to travel far for to achieve a memorable, fun-filled family vacation,” said Steve Trumble, President and CEO of American Consumer Credit Counseling. “Setting and sticking to a reasonable budget and finding the right local discounts will make it easier to afford and enjoy a trip this summer.”
ACCC offers the following financial tips for Las Vegas families to enjoy an affordable vacation in their own city:
• Do your research. Being a local resident means you can enjoy special discounts and promotions all around the city. Find out what deals apply to you before going out. MGM Resorts has unveiled a local only deals website for all their properties. The discounts include deals on hotel rooms for a long weekend staycation, discount and 2 for 1 show tickets, dining and spa offers and other offers available only to locals.
• Use public transportation. The Las Vegas Monarail Company offers special fares for Nevada residents at only $1 per ride. These tickets are available at all of the monorail customer service booths upon presentation of a valid Nevada ID. Free 24 hour monorails, separate from the Las Vegas Monorail, link the Mirage and TI; and Excalibur, the Luxor and Mandalay Bay. A free shuttle bus is also in service that will take you all around the Strip, although walking is usually quicker.
• Take advantage of free activities. No trip to Venice - or the Venetian- would be complete without seeing the gondolas. Watch as the singing gondoliers glide through the canals, float beneath bridges, beside cafes, under balconies and through the vibrant Venetian streetscape. Remember, watching is always free. Other free Vegas activities include admission to Hershey’s Chocolate World and the Bellagio's Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.
• Dodge the Herd. Use your weekdays. Some of the best entertainment can be found in the off nights – when hotels and shows offer their best deals. There’s never really a dull night in Sin City, plus you’ll find a little elbow room at the tables and a bigger budget for blackjack.
• Know your Limit. Bring cash, not cards. Bringing only the amount of cash you want to spend with you at night will force you to have discipline and you’ll (hopefully) be left with less regrets and a fuller bank account. If you absolutely have to use an ATM, use the one at your bank before you leave to avoid unnecessary fees.
