American Family Care Acquires Jacksonville Franchise
Jacksonville, Florida (PRWEB) July 01, 2015 -- American Family Care (AFC), the nation’s leading provider of urgent care and accessible primary care, announced today that it has acquired its only franchise clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Located at 13457 Atlantic Boulevard, the location was opened in October 2010 by local physician Kay Holmes, MD and former Blue Cross Blue Shield executive Ellen Sullivan – both of whom who applied their experience in the healthcare industry to making the clinic a success. As part of the transaction, the clinic will be rebranded from AFC Doctors Express to American Family Care, which many patients simply refer to as ‘AFC’.
“Ellen, Kay and their team have done a tremendous job of establishing the standard of excellence in urgent care in the Jacksonville market”, said Randy Johansen, President of American Family Care. “With an annualized growth rate in patient volume of nearly 20% and high levels of patient satisfaction, the acquisition of this clinic provides us with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals who will continue to serve the local community and become a beachhead for future expansion in an important market.”
“I am incredibly proud of everything we accomplished in the past few years, but most of all I take great pride in the quality of care we have provided thousands of families who trust us with their health and wellbeing,” said Sullivan. “I know the team we’ve assembled will continue to serve our patients well, fully supported by one of the most widely known and admired brands in healthcare.”
According to ProPublica – an independent, non-profit that tracks important issues of public interest – the typical emergency room visit for patients in Florida hospitals is nearly two-and-a-half hours. In contrast, over the past 33 years, AFC has pioneered the concept of non-emergency room urgent care, resulting in an average patient visit of about an hour from registration to discharge. Underlying this efficiency is a high-tech, high-touch approach – including digital x-rays, on-site lab testing, state of the art diagnostics, electronic medical records, and well-trained teams of medical professionals.
