American Family Care Opens Holiday Pop-Up Flu Clinic
Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) November 24, 2015 -- American Family Care (AFC), the nation’s leading provider of urgent care and accessible primary care, announced today the opening of a holiday pop-up clinic located in Metro Atlanta’s North Point Mall. The clinic is designed to test the concept of addressing consumer health needs in a new and different way. The location is scheduled to operate through Dec. 24.

Black Friday Bargain: $10 Flu Vaccine
The primary goal of AFC’s new location is to administer flu shots to mallgoers, who are often too busy to stop elsewhere during the busy holiday season. “With more than 150 medical centers in 26 states seeing more than 2 million patients a year, AFC deals with the flu as much or more than any other health care provider outside of the federal government, so we understand the impact it can have on people and their families,” said Dr. Glenn Harnett, Chief Medical Officer of American Family Care. “Beyond simply providing the best health care possible, we want to make health care as convenient as possible. This initiative takes that idea to a new level and will provide us greater insight into ways we can better serve our patients in the future.”
The Gift of Convenience
AFC’s clinic, which is strategically placed across from the American Girl doll store and just a few steps away from Starbucks, is open during normal mall hours – including its 6 a.m. opening on Black Friday. Beyond administering flu vaccinations, the clinic is also performing routine health screening tests – such as blood pressure checks, BMI measurements and glucose tests. The holiday pop-up clinic is also in close proximity to several of AFC’s clinics located in Metro Atlanta, including Alpharetta/Milton and Roswell, among others.
One Nation. Free From Flu.
The holiday pop-up clinic is being launched as part of a broader flu prevention campaign, for which AFC has adopted the slogan “One Nation. Free from Flu.” “Given the cost of influenza in human lives and economic impact, governments and health care organizations across the globe need to do a better job to mitigate its toll,” said William L. Koleszar, Chief Marketing Officer of American Family Care. As an industry leader, we have a responsibility to do everything in our power to make a difference – from educating the public to consulting with employers, to even testing the idea of embedding a flu clinic in a shopping mall. We believe these efforts are simply the right thing to do.”
