American Knife & Tool Institute Appoints Daniel C. Lawson as Legislative Consultant
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) January 20, 2015 -- The American Knife & Tool Institute (AKTI) (http://www.AKTI.org) has announced that Daniel C. Lawson, of the Pittsburgh law firm Meyer, Darragh, Buckkler, Bebenek & Eck, has been appointed Legislative Consultant for the knife advocacy nonprofit.
Lawson will work closely with legislators, members, and other constituents on an expanding, aggressive legislative plan, continuing AKTI’s successes clarifying and repealing knife laws. He will coordinate AKTI’s Legislative Committee’s activities on the state and federal level.
Prior to accepting the Legislative Consultant position, Lawson invested more than a decade volunteering his legal services and knife expertise to the association.
“Dan’s contributions to AKTI have been invaluable,” noted Jan Billeb, Executive Director of AKTI. “His wealth of knife knowledge and experience helping knife industry companies and individuals with legal issues has provided a tremendous benefit to our members and the public.”
CJ Buck, Buck Knives, AKTI Vice President and Legislative Chair, said, “Thanks to Dan Lawson, the American Knife & Tool Institute has a reliable, accurate and updated resource of all of the knife laws of the 50 states on our website. Dan’s comprehensive understanding of knife laws will greatly benefit AKTI’s efforts to support law changes that will benefit every knife maker or owner.”
Lawson has a J.D. from Duquesne University and a B.A. from Dickinson College. His interest in knives has been life-long. His stated legal objective speaks for itself: "Zealously representing the client's interests means you never slacken."
After graduating from Dickinson College, Lawson entered the Marine Corps, serving four years of active duty followed by another nine years in the active reserves; he attained the rank of Major. A native Pennsylvanian, Lawson has been a partner at his firm since 1988 and currently serves on the three-member Management Committee.
