Carol Stream, Illinois (PRWEB) May 12, 2015 -- When ALitho announced plans to raise $20,000 for the American Cancer Society in 2015, company leaders also committed to fighting cancer within their own work force.
“Healthy living really starts with all of us,” says Frank Arostegui, ALitho’s vice president of sales, himself a cancer survivor. “We want to help employees learn how to prevent cancer and pass that knowledge on to their loved ones, too.”
Since a portion of the company’s staff is bilingual, health messages are being shared in Spanish and English each week on Wellness Wednesday, the day that health organizations typically post wellness tips on social media.
Supervisor Ellie Valadez is an active part of ALitho’s health outreach plans. Valadez volunteered to narrate a special 3-minute video segment announcing ALitho’s participation in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life® of Carol Stream on Saturday, June 27.
In the video, Valadez also shared key information on colon cancer screening, a critical step in preventing the form of cancer that will cause nearly 50,000 deaths in the U.S. this year. The video can be viewed on ALitho's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZN5m6-Zeiac
“I think many people don’t realize that having the right tests can stop colon cancer before it starts,” Valadez says. “I’m glad we’re getting the word out to all employees.”
ALitho staffers who prefer to read in Spanish are also being encouraged to learn more about cancer by visiting http://www.cancer.org/espanol, an all-Spanish website hosted by ACS.
Shaunta McGee, senior market manager of community engagement with ACS in DuPage County, Illinois, is another active partner in American Litho’s wellness campaign. McGee recently presented a lunch-and-learn seminar for ALitho employees, stressing the value of maintaining a healthy weight in preventing cancer.
“ACS has a wealth of resources in Spanish,” McGee says. “Our 24/7 help line is staffed with experts who can provide hands-on assistance in Spanish and many other languages.”
American Litho’s commitment to fight cancer in 2015 reflects the fact that cancer affects virtually all of us, says Frank Arostegui. “Just about everyone knows someone who has been diagnosed – and our goal is to make sure no one has to walk that road alone.”
The ALitho Relay For Life team welcomes all donations, large and small. Gifts can be made online via the team’s fundraising page, which can be accessed here: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLCY15LS?team_id=1823631&pg=team&fr_id=67696
American Litho is one of the region’s fastest-growing commercial printing and direct marketing firms, with more than 300 staff members in Carol Stream and a customer service office in the Detroit area.
