Flint, Michigan (PRWEB) December 31, 2013 -- To honor Veterans, American Metal Roofs will be donating materials for a Rustic Shingle Aluminum Roof for the Montrose Veterans Memorial Building. The building is due to be constructed in the summer of 2014.
“This is our way of saying thank you to all our Veterans past present and future. This is a way we can say thank you every day of the year not just on Veterans Day.” - Frank Farmer, President American Metal Roofs
What started out as a tribute by Charlie Emmendorfer of CRE Welding in Montrose, MI to honor his father-in-law Richard Velat, a P.O.W. during the Korean War, became the six-foot tall stainless steel bell which will be the centerpiece of the Veterans Bell Memorial. The two-ton bell has taken 2½ years to build and is not completely finished yet. The proposed building to house the bell will be a unique octagon-shape. Inside the memorial building the information about veterans for whom we receive donations will be displayed. We will honor Active Duty Veterans as well as Reservists and National Guardsmen.
Because the roof is such a prominent feature of the Memorial Building, looks was very important. An aluminum Rustic Shingle roof was chosen. Rustic shingle replicates the look of hand –split shakes without the maintenance of wood. After 50 years of existence Rustic Shingle has been proven on over 100,000,000 square feet of roofing around the world. It is quite likely residential roofing’s most proven and longest-running product. Because an aluminum product was chosen, the roof will look as good in 50 years as it did when it was installed.
Pre-assembly of the post and beam structure of the memorial building is now underway. Once completed, it will be disassembled and stacked awaiting construction of the memorial building in Barber Memorial Park.
