American Mothers, Inc. Hosts Fun Run to Support Domestic Abuse Shelters
Colorado Springs, Colorado (PRWEB) April 18, 2014 -- American Mothers, Inc.®, a national non-profit dedicated to honoring and supporting mothers around the world, will be hosting Run for Mothers, a Mom’s Mile and fun run/walk event on the final day of their national conference, April 26, 2014. The event will take place at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs at 8:00am.
The event is open to all, including conference attendees as well as families from the community, along with fathers, grandparents, kids, and anyone else looking to support a worthy cause. Online registration is open through April 25, and participants can register at the event through 7:45am on the 26th. “Run for Mothers” is designed to raise funds and awareness of violence against women. Proceeds from the event will benefit the R.J. Montgomery Center and TESSA, two Colorado Springs shelters for women and children escaping abusive situations.
“This is an exciting, fun event built around a very serious cause,” says Joan Braitsch, American Mothers, Inc. president. “Domestic violence affects us all in one way or another. In the US alone, a woman is beaten every nine seconds, and one in three women worldwide have been victimized. Every effort to get the word out can make a major difference.”
Registration for Run for Mothers is $20 or $35 for an entire family. Every adult female participant will receive a vintage American Mothers T-shirt while supplies last. Additional prizes will be awarded for stroller decorations, the family with the most participants, plus the youngest and oldest participants.
The race takes place on the final day of the American Mothers National Conference, a three-day event from April 24-26, also at The Broadmoor. The conference features keynotes from influential speakers, educational breakout sessions, networking events, and the crowning of the 2014 National Mother of the Year®, Young Mother of the Year, and Mothers of Achievement.
