American National Introduces Paid Training for Insurance Agency Interns
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- To help its agency interns better prepare for owning their own business, both from a financial and educational standpoint, the American National Family of Companies has launched an innovative paid training program. Known as the Agent Career Program (ACP), the company’s new training initiative is an intensive three- or four-month internship that combines classroom, online and hands-on experience.
The ultimate goal of the new program is to ensure that each new agency intern is fully prepared to handle all client needs from the very first day they take ownership of their business. To achieve that goal, each new recruit works alongside a Multiple Line General Agent and a “mentor agent.” The General Agent personally guides the new hire through the entire internship, teaching them the skills they will need to successfully run an agency. Plus, unlike many other agent training programs, agency interns are given the opportunity to take an active role in the day-to-day operation of their mentor agent’s office.
One of the fundamental components of the program is comprehensive instruction about every facet of American National’s product portfolio. American National’s agents offer clients a broad range of insurance products and services, from personal line products to life insurance. Therefore, a large amount of information must be mastered in a short period of time. The ACP combines classroom and online instruction with real-world learning opportunities to allow agency interns the opportunity to apply the knowledge they glean throughout the internship.
Success in the insurance field is achieved by possessing knowledge of products and services offered by a particular company, as well as strong business acumen and exceptional customer service skills. From the very first day of their internship, new hires are taught how to effectively own and operate a business. They are given the opportunity to set appointments, navigate software, conduct sales presentations and prepare quotes under the guidance of their Multiple Line General Agent and their mentoring agent.
A career as an insurance agent isn’t limited to those with prior industry experience. In fact, the vast majority of agents do not get their start in insurance. American National encourages individuals from all backgrounds, especially those interested in owning their own business, to consider pursuing an agent career. Since American National’s agents are independent contractors and entrepreneurs, they enjoy the flexibility and earning potential of owning a business. However, they also have the support and backing of a company that boasts more than a century of financial stability.
“We offer an exceptional small business opportunity for qualified, highly-motivated individuals who take a personal interest in protecting what their clients value most,” said Gary Lukovich, vice president of distribution and sales. “Our agents have an opportunity to make a profound difference in people’s lives while making a great living in the process.”
American National is comprised of several distinct entities. The parent company, American National Insurance Company (ANICO), was chartered in Galveston, Texas in 1905. Since that time, they have evolved into one of the largest and strongest life insurance companies in the nation. In an effort to offer personal lines of insurance to its client base, ANICO established a dedicated property and casualty division in 1973. That company, American National Property And Casualty Company (ANPAC), is headquartered in Springfield, Mo. In 2001, ANICO decided it needed a vehicle to better serve the unique insurance needs of the agricultural market, which prompted the acquisition of Glenmont, N.Y.’s Farm Family Insurance Company.
Each of American National's exclusive, independent contractor agents offers life insurance; annuities; property and casualty insurance for personal lines (including auto insurance coverage), agribusiness and targeted commercial exposures; and other insurance services. American National agents serve individuals, families and business owners. Please visit anpac.com for more information.
Products and services may not be available in all states and eligibility requirements will apply. Personal and commercial products and services are made available through American National Multiple Line Exclusive Agents and may be underwritten in American National Property And Casualty Company (ANPAC), Springfield, Missouri, or one of its subsidiaries: American National General Insurance Company; Pacific Property and Casualty Company (California); ANPAC Louisiana Insurance Company (Louisiana); American National Lloyds Insurance Company (Texas); and American National County Mutual Insurance Company (serviced by ANPAC). Life insurance products are issued through American National Insurance Company, Galveston, Texas.
