American politics examined in new novel
BURLINGAME, Calif. (PRWEB) November 17, 2014 -- His personal frustrations towards the elected officers who sit in Washington has prompted author William J. C. Amend, Jr. to weave a story of grit. “Pretenders to the Throne” (published by Xlibris) traces the history of the founding fathers of America and their modern descendants whom Amend thinks of as people “who can be better.”
The Presidency of the United States has often been held by a handful of families - the Adamses and Roosevelts among others. By this, it might seem that Americans have subconsciously long wished for a king. This novel develops the notion that this country has always had one but has not known it yet.
In 2018, cataclysmic problems threaten America. At this juncture, a clandestine society formed by Federalists in 1795 (known as PATRI) realizes that desperate measures are needed. It allies itself with European royalists to elect a third party president. The tumultuous outcome proves more than Americans had bargained for.
Historic and futuristic combined, this fictional examination of the transition of power from the original founding families and their descendants shows what Amend wants readers to see. According to him, “Our elected officials seem paralyzed and ineffective.” Thus, through his book, “Pretenders to the Throne,” he sparks hope that “a king might be better” if only the people will realize and elect the deserving one.
