American Quilter’s Society’s AQS QuiltWeek® Returns to Lancaster
Lancaster, PA (PRWEB) January 31, 2014 -- American Quilter’s Society, the largest quilting membership organization in the world, is pleased to announce the return of AQS QuiltWeek® to Lancaster, PA. AQS QuiltWeek®- Lancaster, Pennslyvania runs from March 12 through March 15 at the Lancaster Convention Center, 25 S Queen St, Lancaster, PA 17603.
More than 15,000 will converge on Lancaster, the heart of Amish country, to enjoy four days of the best in international quilt and textile artistry. Over 500 quilts will be on display, with more than $50,000 in prizes to be awarded for quilting excellence at the event. In addition, AQS QuiltWeek will be hosting a series of workshops with some of the top talent in the quilt industry and an extensive Merchant Mall comprised of both local and national vendors. This year also highlights American Quilter’s Society’s 30th Anniversary with cupcakes for the first 300 attendees on Wednesday, March 12, in celebration of the three decades the American Quilter’s Society has been providing quilters and fabric lovers with a chance to explore and enjoy the creativity of quilters from around the world.
Included in QuiltWeek’s celebrated exhibits is Masters II from the Studio Art Quilters Associates (SAQA™). Also on display is the Quilted in Honor travelling exhibit by Island Batik, which supports Operation Homefront, a not-for-profit organization providing financial assistance, food, repairs, and help to the families of our United States service members and wounded warriors in need. Returning from Egypt, the Stitch like an Egyptian exhibit will showcase stunning creations of appliqué.
Evening events feature an All-Star Review and a fun Bali Pops Dash Quilt-a-Thon to benefit Stork's Nest at Lancaster General Health, which is a prenatal education incentive initiative that rewards expectant mothers who make healthy choices for themselves and their babies. AQS Certified Quilt Appraisers will be available at the event to appraise new or antique quilts for insurance replacement or fair market values from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There is an appraisal fee of $50 per quilt, payable at quilt check-in.
Admission to AQS QuiltWeek includes access to all special exhibits and the Merchant Mall with more than 200 vendor booths.
