American Textile Recycling Service Launches “Shop & Recycle” Campaign at the Sooner Towne Center for Back To School
(PRWEB) July 27, 2013 -- American Textile Recycling Service (ATRS) debuts its “Shop and Recycle” Campaign in Oklahoma to coincide with back-to-school shopping and tax-free weekends. Partnering with the Sooner Towne Center at 7095 SE 29th Street in Midwest City, ATRS will host fun, friendly drop and drive recycling events during the first two weekends of August 2nd & 3rd and 9th-11th.
Recognized as the second most revenue-generating sales event of the year behind December holiday shopping, Back-to-School sales accounts for a large percentage of annual retail numbers. “In August 2012, 21.0 billion dollars was spent at clothing and clothing accessory stores which accounts for 8.6% of total annual sales, “ says Ian L. Thomas, Chief of Retail Indicators Branch of the U.S. Census Bureau. “Of that $21 billion, 8.5 billion was accounted for back-to-school shopping.”
The Shop and Recycle initiative helps to educate families, moms and those all important “millennial” back-to-school shoppers about the benefits of recycling while providing a convenient point-of-purchase solution for recycling and donating last season’s outgrown and unwanted clothes, shoes, toys and other household textiles. To date, ATRS has diverted over 155 million pounds from local landfills in its regions and has donated over $4M to worthy charities in the process. Proceeds from this event will support programs and services of our charitable partner, MADD Oklahoma.
Look for the friendly recycling teams from ATRS in the south parking area of the shopping center. They will be on hand to give more information about clothing recycling and how residents can help to support MADD Oklahoma’s great cause.
