Amerinet Releases Latest Inflationary Update for Healthcare Supplies
St. Louis, Missouri (PRWEB) February 02, 2015 -- Amerinet Inc., a leading national healthcare solutions organization, recently released to members its updated Inflationary Indices for 2015, which include company and industry projections for inflation rates across several categories over the coming year.
“This information provides our members another decision support tool to assist in efficiency and cost reduction by alerting them to possible pricing issues based on market dynamics,” said Dale Wright, Amerinet’s senior vice president of contracting and president, Amerinet Choice.
These projections represent industry inflationary performance, actual pricing through Amerinet contracts and programs, and the expected impact of upcoming contract bids. The Amerinet Inflationary Indices are published biannually and updated to reflect any market trends or changes.
The report offers estimates in categories including diagnostic imaging, environmental services, executive resources, foodservice, laboratory, medical supplies, office solutions, pharmacy, plant engineering and surgical supplies.
Some particular items of note:
- There is expected to be particular upward pricing pressure in the areas of X-ray film, developing products and developing chemicals. Barium will also see sharp increases. IV sets and solutions costs will continue to rise as product shortages continue
- Argon gas, used primarily in lasers, is experiencing extraordinary price increases due to lack of production. Argon is produced as a result of making oxygen and nitrogen, both of which are in decline. Further, most of the nation’s argon is created in the Gulf coast region and needs to be transported, further adding to costs.
- Helium, used mainly in conjunction with MRI scans, will continue to increase as well. Helium production has been under the control of the United States government since before World War II, but the government is now seeking to have private industry undertake this responsibility and therefore isn’t developing any new helium production.
- Water/sewage costs are outpacing inflation nationwide. Increases of 25-35 percent year over year are being experienced throughout the country primarily due to antiquated infrastructure.
Although inflationary increases are many times subject to social, economic and political pressures and are extremely difficult to accurately predict, Amerinet’s members benefit from price protection controls and pricing being locked in for a majority of contracts. “Established contracts and long-standing relationships with our suppliers allow us to maintain a certain level of pricing stability for our valued members,” said Wright.
