ANACAPA Launches as a New Direct-to-Consumer Menswear Lifestyle Brand
New York, NY (PRWEB) February 25, 2015 -- ANACAPA, a menswear lifestyle brand with a coastal mindset has launched its first collection - including its take on the “perfect shirt for summer" - on its website. The stylish, wearable clothing is designed with an eye towards versatility and longevity - hard-wearing pieces that transition easily from city to beach and back.
All of ANACAPA’s garments are designed in New York City, made in the USA, and sold directly to customers. The brand is taking pre-orders through March 17th and will hold a pop-up showroom for customers to try on products and socialize with the founders at 89 Avenue C in New York City from March 5th-8th.
The idea for ANACAPA was developed by Cameron Maloney, a transplant from Santa Barbara, CA, who spent five years in finance before transitioning to men’s apparel. He is now in his second year at Columbia Business School, where he is focusing on retail. This past fall, he recruited native New Yorker and Bronx charter school teacher, Eli Bunzel, and fellow CBS student and U.S. Navy veteran, John Chan, to help launch the brand and website. The three were united by their disappointment with the quality-price relationship they found with most existing casual menswear brands. With ANACAPA they're determined to reinterpret value in menswear.
Clothes Crafted for the Coastal Lifestyle
With a focus on timeless designs, quality craftsmanship, and providing value for the customer, they are not only making a splash with their sophisticated, surf-inspired first collection, but are also taking a stand against disposable fashion and the traditional retail value chain.
Co-founder Cameron Maloney said, “As a brand, we really have three things we want to accomplish: first and foremost, we want to make great clothes at a price that truly reflects value; second, we want to make clothes that take California casual and make it sophisticated enough for NYC; and third, we want to make clothes that will last for years and get better with each and every wear. That’s what ANACAPA is. When we put together our pullover - the ‘perfect shirt for summer’ - we did so with those three goals front and center. That's how we then approached the rest of our assortment.”
