San Francisco, California (PRWEB) June 26, 2015 -- Andrew Hawley of Vintage Rock Posters Inc. announces his search for vintage original 1963-1965 Bob Dylan Newport Folk Festival concert posters. It was at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965 that Dylan stunned the folk music world by deciding to go electric. According to Hawley, “The Newport Folk Festival was produced George Wein and it was considered an honor to be invited to play at this venue. Dylan at the Newport Folk festival in Newport Rhode Island on July 26, 1963. Dylan shared the stage with some of the top folk and blues acts in the early 1960s. A beautiful poster was designed by Eric Von Schmidt for the 1963 festival. Von Schmidt also performed at the festival. Dylan returned to Newport in 1964 and wowed the audience with one of his finest performances. It was in 1965 at the Newport Festival that Dylan went electric to the displeasure of the audience and folk music fans across the U.S.”
Hawley adds, “The 1963 Von Schmidt poster features tribal like graphics and was printed on thin paper. In 1964 and 1965, the promoters switched to boxing style concert posters. The posters were printed on thick poster board and measured approximately 14 x 22 inches. They were printed locally by the Franklin Poster Company. Both posters use block lettering where the bands were listed below a graphic of some hands playing a guitar.
