Andrew & Peter Fabrikant, Nationwide Diamond And Estate Jewelry Buyers, Report on 2014 Jewelry Trends and 2015 Predictions
New York City, NY (PRWEB) January 20, 2015 -- In the 2014 calendar year, Andrew & Peter Fabrikant Fine Diamonds and Jewelry—a nationwide leader in diamond and estate jewelry buying— bought more than $27 million of diamond and estate jewelry from their clients.
“We saw people from every walk of life. Billionaires and millionaires, accountants, lawyers, daughters and sons, spouses and divorcee’s: they all look to sell unused, unworn diamonds and jewelry,” said Andrew Fabrikant, Partner of Andrew & Peter Fabrikant Fine Diamonds and Jewelry. “As the stigma of selling jewelry has been removed, smart and successful people understand that owning jewelry you do not wear is a wasted asset.”
Andrew & Peter Fabrikant offer the following 2014 jewelry trends and 2015 predictions.
Diamond Market
2014 Trend - Overall, bigger diamonds were selling for tremendous prices. Smaller diamonds, 1 to 2.5 carats, showed a little softness and prices weakened. As for larger stones, more were sold this year than over the last few years and for bigger numbers.
2015 Prediction - Rough diamond prices have gone up, which means that those selling diamonds in the New Year will continue to see a stable market with small upticks possible.
Mr. Fabrikant adds, “The sentiment seems to be that selling now makes sense. Baby Boomers’ lifestyles are more casual than in the past. As occasions to wear fine jewelry become increasingly sparse, they realize the asset is worth serious money. More and more people will realize that now is the time to sell diamonds of all sizes.”
Period Jewelry
2014 Trend - Interest in great period jewelry increased dramatically. The Asian market matured when it came to fine signed and estate pieces. Original, beautiful Art Deco through the 1940s retro jewelry was also hot. Designers like Paul Flato, Verdura, JAR, Seaman Schepps, VCA, Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Schlumberger, Lalique, Boucheron, etc. are in huge demand.
2015 Prediction - The VCA Alhambra collection will continue to be incredibly desirable, but we don’t know for how long. We suggest selling these pieces while prices are still high.
Colored Gems
2014 Trend - Fine gems of color, be it diamond, emerald, sapphire or ruby, became a huge market. Blue and pink diamonds of fine color also became tremendously fashionable for the ultra rich and brought exorbitant prices. Mr. Fabrikant states, “We have become specialists in these fields as a matter of necessity. More and more of them are starting to appear and we are on top of the market conditions worldwide.”
2015 Prediction – Record prices will be set in both the fancy colored diamond arena as well as in sapphires, rubies and emeralds. The strength of the market will depend upon how much of it appears.
Natural Pearls
2014 Trend - The hottest and biggest numbers in history were for natural pearls. Natural pearls are defined as pearls that do not have man made cultures, but occur naturally without human interference.
2015 Prediction - This trend will continue for the next few years. Prices may continue to go higher as finding strands that are in good condition and natural gets harder as the years go by.
“Somewhere in a vault box, or under a mattress, or hidden in a sock inside a trunk in an attic is a collection of gems and jewelry that is worth a king’s ransom waiting to be found,” concludes Mr. Fabrikant. “And when that day arrives, we will be able to say that because we had our finger on the pulse of the jewelry world, we were the best prepared to help.”
