Andrews Kurth Partners with The Fullbridge Program for a Second Year of Professional Development- Intensive Business Training Helps First-Year Lawyers Add Value Immediately
Houston, TX (PRWEB) September 19, 2013 -- For the second straight year, Andrews Kurth LLP is partnering with The Fullbridge Program, a rigorous business education effort that provides intensive and holistic business training for the firm’s first-year attorneys.
Eighteen new associates, who are in the three-week program through September, will receive extensive training on subjects not generally taught in law school, including business valuation, financial analysis and project management. Andrews Kurth is one of five law firms in the United States and the only Texas-based law firm to partner with The Fullbridge Program.
“The Fullbridge Program is the perfect complement to what is already a rigorous Attorney Professional Development program at Andrews Kurth,” says Amy Sladczyk Hancock, JD, the firm’s Director of Attorney Professional Development. “It has helped prepare our new attorneys to understand our clients’ business goals, take an active role and contribute from day one.”
Firm associate Brian Murdock, a graduate of the 2012 program, says the training was crucial in his development as a new lawyer.
“It was basically a Rosetta Stone for business,” Murdock says. “The Fullbridge Program was the perfect bridge between law school and career, and the program provided a foundation on which I plan to build my career. The work was difficult, but definitely worth it.”
By mastering business concepts, as well as practical skills such as teamwork, effective presentations and time management, new associates are better able to appreciate client objectives and more adequately and effectively anticipate their concerns, says Bob Jewell, Managing Partner of Andrews Kurth.
“Given the success of last year’s program, we know that the Fullbridge training is extraordinary,” Mr. Jewell says. “It has greatly accelerated our young attorneys’ professional development and significantly benefitted our clients and the firm as a whole. I’m happy to be partnering with them again this year.”
