AngelHack Announces Expansion to Hawaiian Tech Scene
Honolulu, Hawaii (PRWEB) July 27, 2017 -- AngelHack, global developer community and ecosystem brings 10th Global Hackathon Competition: Commit To Your Code to Honolulu, Hawaii for the first time July 29th - 30th, 2017. The event will host developers, designers, and entrepreneurs to build, test, and launch new prototypes over the course of a weekend, and will be held at, and in partnership with Impact Hub Honolulu.
The 55-city hackathon competition has already brought in thousands of attendees globally, and has hosted events to foster local innovation in Asia, the U.S, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. Now the world's largest developer ecosystem is expanding its reach to a city still relatively untouched by the startup tech boom; Honolulu, Hawaii, to unearth amazing talent and empower local entrepreneurs.
“We are beyond excited to host AngelHack’s Global Hackathon Competition in our new space. We have some great talent, dedicated people, and a thriving community that can’t wait to compete and take their ideas to the next level,” said Anne Weber, Community Manager and Educator of Impact Hub Honolulu.
Doors open Saturday July 29th at 9 a.m., and the opening ceremony will begin promptly after at 10:30 a.m. There, the hackers will be able to network and potentially meet their co-founder, learn about new technology, and enjoy delicious food. The event space will be open throughout the night, inviting hackers to code for 24 hours straight to prepare for demos at 2 p.m. on Sunday July 30th. With the support of Guy Kawasaki, and local startups such as, Blue Startups, Dev League, Hawaii Open Data, Airship CMS the event is nearly sold out with a highly anticipated judging panel, including:
Burt Lum, Executive Director of Hawaii Open Data
Katarina Poljakova, Program Manager of XLR8UH, and Venture Associate for Sultan Ventures
Meli James, President, Hawaii Venture Capital Association (HVCA)
Alex Cabello, CTO Algorithm Hub, Inc.
Nam Vu, Co-Director, Impact Hub Honolulu
Harrison Rice, Co-Owner and COO of Shaka Tea
“The feedback thus far has been overwhelmingly exciting and positive. We’ve had so many local startups, founders, and influencers reach out that want to get involved,” said Sabeen Ali, CEO of AngelHack, “The energy that’s coming from the community is energetic and magnetic, and I can’t wait to see what projects are created this weekend.”
The Honolulu hackathon is one of the last few stops for AngelHack as they wrap up their 10th Global Series and gear up for their pre-accelerator, the HACKcelerator. Since 2011, AngelHack has hosted annual Global Hackathon Competitions each with a different theme. Past themes like The Whole Developer, Thoughts Become Things, and Anyone Can Code aim to continually challenge their community of developers, designers, and entrepreneurs. This year’s theme, Commit To Your Code, encourages hackers to commit to the projects they create, the team they create it with, themselves, and the prospect of making a positive impact on the world.
