(PRWEB) April 27, 2014 -- In part three of this multi part blues guitar lesson sample video, now available on YouTube.com, Jon MacLennan teaches blues lead playing using pentatonic scales.
“We’re looking at pattern number three now working out our major and minor pentatonic’s across the whole fret board”, says MacLennan. Jon demonstrates this scale pattern as follows; 10th fret of the 6th string with first finger, 12th fret of 6th string with third finger, which he repeats for the 5th and 4th strings. Then he moves down one half step to the 9th fret on the 3rd string with first finger to the 12th fret with 4th finger and then back up one half step to the 10th fret of the 2nd string with first finger to the 13th fret with 4th finger and 10th fret of the first string with first finger to the 12th fret with 3rd finger. Jon says to be sure to practice both ascending and descending. “This works really well with the C major chord rooted on the 10th fret of the 4th string”, says MacLennan, “I like to think of the harmony and the scales as being inextricable”, says MacLennan, “the chords come out of the scales and the scales come out of the notes in the chords”. Guitar TAB’s are available for this blues guitar lesson at BluesGuitar.com.
