Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “Blues Turnaround in the Style of Freddie King - Blues Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) January 22, 2014 -- The Turnaround is used many styles of music. The Blues Turnaround or V, VI, I (5-4-1) Turnaround came from the Ragtime Blues era. The cadence of the Blues Turnaround is backwards from traditional western music. The job of the Blues Turnaround is to show the listener where the chord progression ends and starts over, it does this by ending on the V (five) of the chord progression making it want to resolve back to the I (one).
“This is a must know song for a blues guitar player to have in his repertoire,” says MacLennan. Jon demonstrates this classic turnaround as follows: first he plays the open 6th string and then the open first string, then he plays the 3rd fret of the 2nd string with his 3rd finger, then the 2nd fret of the 3rd string with his 2nd finger and does a slide to the 4th fret and then places his first finger on the 3rd fret of the 2nd string and plays the first three stings as an upstroke and then slides his 2nd finger back down to the 2nd fret and does a pull-off to the open string and then plays the 2nd fret of the 4th string with is 2nd finger and then the open first string, next is the 2nd fret of the 5th string with his 2nd finger and follows that with the open 2nd string and then first fret of the 3rd string with his first finger, which makes a B7 chord. “You are going to want to copy the fingering I’m using to play this, it’s the best way to navigate the lick,” says MacLennan. Guitar TAB’s are available for this lesson at BluesGuitar.com.
