Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “Chordal Guitar Solo over a G Blues Progression - Easy Blues Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) April 17, 2014 -- In today’s lesson, Jon continues a series of lessons that focus on chordal soloing over a blues. “What I like to do is come up with a melody and harmonize it with notes in the chords,” says MacLennan. The first lick Jon demonstrates is based off of a G7 chord and he demonstrates it as 5th fret of the 4th string with his 2nd finger, 4th fret of the 3rd string with his first finger and 6th fret of the 2nd string with his 4th finger which he plays all together and then he follows that with a little melody. Next he jumps down to a G major chord that consists of 3rd fret of the 6th string with his 2nd finger, 2nd fret of the 5th string with his first finger and 5th fret of the 4th string with his 4th finger and follows that with a G7. Finally Jon finishes off the lick with a couple of double stops, the first one is A with a minor third that is played with the 3rd finger on the 5th fret of the 6th string and the first finger on the 3rd fret of the 5th string and then he moves to the second double stop which is G with a major third played with 2nd finger on the 3rd fret of the 6th string and 2nd finger on the 2nd fret of the 5th string. Jon says that this lick can be performed using the hybrid picking technique as well as just using the guitar pick. Jon finishes off this easy blues lesson by demonstrating the lick over a backing track. Guitar TAB’s are available at BluesGuitar.com.
