Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “Eric Clapton Blues Turnaround Lick - Blues Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) January 30, 2014 -- The Turnaround is used many styles of music. The Blues Turnaround or V, VI, I (5-4-1) Turnaround came from the Ragtime Blues era. The cadence of the Blues Turnaround is backwards from traditional western music. The job of the Blues Turnaround is to show the listener where the chord progression ends and starts over, it does this by ending on the V (five) of the chord progression making it want to resolve back to the I (one).
“This is a great turnaround that I got from Eric Clapton from one of my favorite albums Jon Mail and the Blues Breakers, from the song Ramblin on my mind, which is originally a Robert Johnson song,” says MacLennan, “Clapton’s playing throughout the whole album is mind blowing.” Jon demonstrates the lick as follows; he first plays the open 6th string twice and follows that with the open 4th string and then the first fret and then 2nd fret of the 4th string, with his first and 2nd fingers and then open again. Next he moves to the 5th string and plays the 2nd fret followed by the first fret, with his 2nd and first fingers and then open 5th string. And finally moves to the 3rd fret of the 6th string, with his 3rd finger and does a slight bend and then open 6th string.
