Announcement: Economy Picking Lesson For Lead Guitarists is Now Online
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 26, 2013 -- Economy picking is a technique that maximizes speed with minimal effort. A guitarist will pick the guitar in the direction of travel, using an upstroke if changing to a lower pitch and a downstroke if changing to a higher pitch. Alejandra breaks down this technique in this quick three-minute, easy-to-learn, lesson.
Alejandra first plays a C major riff at 200 beats per minute using three notes per string. This gives the guitarists time to absorb the riff as it is supposed to be played. Alejandra also demonstrates the dynamics of the C major scale by using the entire fretboard. Seeing the whole fretboard being used should begin to get guitarists’ creative, guitar shredding juices flowing.
At a slower speed, Alejandra then talks through the economy picking technique so guitarists can play along with her. The video focuses on her right hand, giving viewers the ability to see how Alejandra is picking at the strings using proper economy picking technique.
This economy picking lick, as it is called, is meant to be played at a very fast tempo. The idea of this economy picking exercise is to play the lick slowly at first and increase speed as well as complexity.
As always, Guitar Control encourages all guitarists to come up with their own ideas to help find their unique sound and style. Using this technique of economy picking, along with some creativity, helps any guitarists play like the great Paul Gilbert or Vinnie Moore with these lead guitar lessons.
