Announcement: Follow Up Guitar Lesson on Harmonic Modes is Now Online
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 25, 2013 -- Guitar Control continues with its release of instructional guitar lessons in this follow-up video on playing various modes on guitar. Playing in and understanding different modes can often be confusing for players, but this video helps to break down some examples and includes available tabs. The instructor for this four minute video clip is Cameron Rasmussen, who is one of the newest teachers for Guitar Control. As with each of Cameron’s lessons, he opens and closes the video with an impressive guitar lick.
The lesson begins with G major (or G Ionian) but also includes Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian (the minor scale), and Locrian. Cameron goes through each of the modes playing the notes in sequence but also relates whether the distance between each note is a tone or semitone. One of the main aspects that Cameron emphasizes in this video is the pattern of tones and semitones (or step and half step) in each seven note mode. He points out that as you move into the next mode, the placement of tones and semitones follows a pattern and the pattern is offset by one as you move into the next mode.
To help further illustrate these modes, and as a follow up to the lesson, Cameron provides diagrams to map out the notes in each mode, outlining the tones and semitones for each. This will allow for the pattern and relationship of the notes to be more easily understood. This also helps to illustrate the relationship between each of the modes and what gives each mode its own unique flavor and sound, making it easier to play modes on guitar.
