Announcement: GuitarControl.com Releases “Blues Intro in the Key of A - Easy Guitar Lesson on Blues Turnarounds”
(PRWEB) July 28, 2014 -- Jon demonstrates this easy blues turnaround lick as follows; 10th fret of the 5th string with 2nd finger and 9th fret of the 3rd string with first finger played simultaneously using the hybrid picking technique, to the 10th fret of the 2nd string with 4th finger and then back to the 3rd string again. MacLennan continues this lick by playing the same sequence, but moves the notes on the 5th and 3rd strings down one half step each time until reaching the 7th fret on the 5th string which makes the A7 chord that the riff resolves too. And finally Jon finishes it all of with a typical blues build up riff as follows; 5th fret of the 5th string to the 6th and then 7th frets with first three fingers and ending on an E7 chord. Guitar TAB’s are available for this easy blues guitar lesson at GuitarControl.com.
The Turnaround is used many styles of music. The Blues Turnaround or V, VI, I (5-4-1) Turnaround came from the Ragtime Blues era. The cadence of the Blues Turnaround is backwards from traditional western music. The job of the Blues Turnaround is to show the listener where the chord progression ends and starts over, it does this by ending on the V (five) of the chord progression making it want to resolve back to the I (one).
Hybrid Picking is a technique where the guitarist uses a flat pick with the thumb and first finger and finger picks with the remaining fingers
