Announcement: GuitarControl.com Releases “Jazz Guitar Lesson-Cool Chordal Ideas with Common Tones for Ending A Jazz Standard”
(PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- A chord melody, also known as common tone chords, which is a series of chords that all keep one note in common. Jon uses a cadence that resolves to the key of “F” for this demonstration and the “F” note is the high note in the chord voicing’s. The chords used in this progression are as follows; E7 flat 9, E flat 9, D7 sharp 9, D flat 9, G minor 7, B flat/C, and finally resolving on F major 9 sharp 11. Jon demonstrates how to play each of these chords and the theory behind them. “Anyone of these chords can be moved, which is so great about a lot of the jazz voicing’s”, says MacLennan. Since they don’t use open strings these chords can be easy moved up and down the fret board and transposed into virtually any key. Variations of this type of chord progression include inverting the chords so that the common note is in the lower or middle registry of the chord instead of the top.
