Announcement: GuitarControl.com releases “Lead Guitar Lesson - Advanced Lead Guitar Tapping Lick Using E minor 7th Arpeggio”
(PRWEB) November 24, 2013 -- In this guitar lesson, now available on YouTube.com, Silvio Gazquez teaches an advanced tapping guitar shredder lick in the key of E minor. TAB’s for this lesson are available at GuitarControl.com.
A “lick” is a sequence of notes from a scale that are used in a section of a solo, by using an array of techniques such as bends, slides, and hammer-on/pull-offs.
In this lead guitar lesson, Silvio demonstrates a really cool advanced guitar shredder lick in the key of E minor. The lick is based in the minor pentatonic scale and uses the techniques of tapping, hammer-on, pull-off’s and string skipping. The technique of tapping was made into a mainstay technique by guitarist Eddie Van Halen when he used it in Eruption on Van Halen’s debut album in the late 1970’s. Tapping is a technique where you use fingers on your non fretting hand to fret notes on the fret board.
Gazquez plays this lick using pattern one of the minor pentatonic scale starting on E at the 7th fret of the 5th string. Then he uses a hammer-on to the 10th fret of the 5th string and follows that by tapping the 14th fret of the 5th string, these 3 notes make up the E minor triad, root, flat third (minor third), and fifth. He continues by skipping the 4th string and fretting the 7th fret of the 3rd string, the minor 7th (flat 7), which completes the E minor 7 arpeggio. Silvio continues the sequence all the way to the first string and finally ends it by descending the whole sequence back to the starting note on the 5th string. This lick is advanced and should be played slowly with a metronome to build up speed.
Silvio Gazquez is a native of Argentina and began studying guitar at the age of 14. At age 18 Silvio moved to La Plata to study classical guitar at Bellas Artes University. After three years Silvio left to pursue the electric guitar on his own. In 2004 Gazquez was chosen as a finalist for the Guitar Idol contest, but was not able to make the trip, but was chosen to participate on the Guitar Idol compilation CD. Silvio’s instructional DVD “Virtuoso Guitar Secrets” is available through GuitarControl.com.
