Announcement: GuitarControl.com Releases “Lead Guitar Lesson - Learn How to Play Sweet Child O'Mine Intro by Guns N´ Roses”
(PRWEB) November 23, 2013 -- In this lead guitar lesson, now available on YouTube.com, Alejandra Mesliuk teaches how to play the intro riff to Sweet Child O’Mine by Guns N’ Roses.
A “riff” is the catchy part of a song that sticks in your head. One of the most recognizable guitar riffs of all time is “Smoke on the water” by Deep Purple.
Alejandra teaches one of the most popular guitar riffs of all time by one of the most iconic guitarists of all time, Slash, in this lead guitar lesson. The riff is based in the Mixolydian Mode and is played over the chord progression of D, C, and G and uses the technique of String Skipping. The riff is a sequence of repeating notes with the first note changing every two measures and rest of the sequence stays the same. When played over the D Chord, the first note is the root note, D, played at the 12th fret of the 4th string. When played over the C Chord, the first note is the Major 3rd, E, played on the 14th fret of the 4th string. When played over the G Chord, the first note is the root note, G, played on the 12th fret of the 3rd string. The whole riff is eight measures long and repeats a total of three times and finally ending with a variation of the original riff. Guitar tabs for this lead guitar lesson are available at GuitarControl.com.
Guns N’ Roses was formed in Los Angeles California in 1985. All original members except for singer Axl Rose have left the band and been replaced with new members.
