(PRWEB) October 25, 2013 -- In this lead guitar lesson, now available on YouTube.com, Alejandra Mesliuk teaches how to play the Lydian Mode on the guitar. Lydian is the fourth of the seven major modes. The Lydian Mode is composed by playing the major scale and sharpening the fourth note by one half step. The name Lydian comes from the Greek referring to the ancient kingdom of Lydia in Anatolia. Since Lydian is made up from the major scale with a raised 4th, it can be played over major and major 7th chords and is compatible with many major chord progressions and keys. The chord voicings that Alejandra references to in this lesson are; C major 7, D7, E minor 7, G major 7, A minor 7, B minor 7, and she says to avoid F sharp minor 7 flat 5. Mesliuk explains the theory behind Lydian and demonstrates variations of lead guitar sequences as well as arpeggios based on Lydian. The sharp four is the “magic note”, says Mesliuk.
