Anova Food, LLC Wins the Seafood Champion Award for Innovation
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) March 14, 2015 -- During the opening reception of the SeaWeb Seafood Summit held in New Orleans, Anova Food, LLC was honored with The Seafood Champion Award for Innovation for their Fishing & Living™ initiative. The program was praised for advancing sustainable fisheries by incorporating community development and the wellbeing of fishers in their work to achieve environmental goals. Through Fisheries Improvement Projects (FIPs) and fisher education, Anova is bringing the Indonesian Handline Yellowfin tuna into the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standards. Winners were selected from over 100 nominations from the fishing, aquaculture, seafood supply sectors.
“By working with industry professionals, marine biologists and various NGOs, we have gained a complete perspective on the sustainable harvesting methods of tuna. All of our efforts are transparent so that customers can see the actual work and progress being made. Being able to provide responsibly-sourced seafood has been a continuous goal for Anova and I am proud to say we can now offer it.” said Darren Zobrist, President of Anova Food, LLC.
After years of research and development, Anova Food has recently launched Fair Trade Certified tuna into the marketplace. “We have worked hard for this moment.” said Scott Purinton, VP of Sales at Anova. “It has been a collaborative effort to get to this point and we are now able to offer this sustainable seafood into the marketplace.
