Antonio Peña Appointed President of the Inter-American Chapter, and Member of the Board of Directors, of The United States – Mexico Chamber of Commerce
MIAMI (PRWEB) May 18, 2018 -- Antonio Peña, a Shareholder in Greenberg Traurig'sMiami office, has been appointed President of the Inter-American Chapter (the “Chapter”), and member of the Board of Directors, of the United States – Mexico Chamber of Commerce(the “Chamber”). In this role, Peña will serve as President of the Chapter and member of the Bi-National Board of Directors of the Chamber.

The Chamber will host a series of events to introduce and welcome the new management committee and President of the Chapter.
The first event will gather participants for a private roundtable discussion May 22 at Llorente & Cuenca’s Miami office. The panel titled, “Elections in Mexico: Uncertainty at the Polls,” will analyze Mexico’s fast-approaching general election and its impact on companies doing business in Mexico and Latin America. Peña will be joined in the discussion by a panel of thought leaders, including: Horacio Saavedra, Consul General of Mexico at the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami; Gavin Strong, Associate Director for Global Risk Analysis at Control Risks; and Alejandro Romero, Partner & CEO Americas at Llorente & Cuenca.
The roundtable will be followed by a cocktail reception May 30 at the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami. During the reception, participants will enjoy an exhibition titled, “Diego, Frida and their passions in Oaxaca,” a private collection of 42 sketches by Diego Rivera, one of the most important Mexican painters and muralists of the 20th century in Latin America.
The event series will culminate with the NAFTA Conference May 31 at the Miami office of Greenberg Traurig, P.A. The panel titled, “The Future of NAFTA and its Implications for the Florida Business Community,” will address new developments regarding NAFTA’s negotiation, including potential business implications of a revised NAFTA agreement. Peña will be joined in the discussion by a panel of speakers, including: Francis Suarez, Mayor of The City of Miami; Horacio Saavedra, Consul General of Mexico at the Consulate General of Mexico in Miami; Axel Christensen, Managing Director and Chief Investment Strategist for Latin America & Iberia at BlackRock; Yosbel Ibarra, Co-Managing Shareholder and Co-Chair of the Latin American and Iberian Practice at Greenberg Traurig; and Sabrina Rodriguez, Journalist at Politico.

Peña is an attorney with four law degrees from the United States, Mexico and Spain. Licensed in Florida and Mexico, Peña consistently represents multinational companies, strategic investors, and private equity funds in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings, restructurings, and other corporate matters throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, including across the United States, Mexico and Spain.
Additionally, Peña is a member of the team that received the 2017 “Corporate/M&A (Florida-based) – International Counsel in Latin America” award from Chambers & Partners. He also has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Spain – U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Most recently, he was selected to The Legal 500’s Private Practice Power list.
