AP Celebrates Topping Out at New Moody Family YMCA in the Park Cities
Richardson, TX (PRWEB) February 25, 2016 -- On the morning of February 25, a “topping out” ceremony was held at the new Moody Family YMCA in the Park Cities to officially commemorate reaching the final height of the new building, which is marked at 44 ft. Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) is serving as the general contractor for the new state-of-the art YMCA which is located at 6000 Preston Road in University Park.
Construction has been underway since April 2015 on this project which will replace the original YMCA built in 1951. The project has overcome numerous challenges such as record rainfall, which resulted in a loss of 39 days of production; yet the project team has successfully implemented a recovery schedule to finish on-time in July 2016.
Designed by Good Fulton & Farrell Architects, the new complex will provide 58,500 square feet of amenities. In comparison with the original building, it will have an indoor therapy pool, expanded health and wellness space, locker rooms and lobby area along with a 300 space underground parking garage. The Moody Family YMCA in the Park Cities will also be the first YMCA to program a Rise school, which is focused on providing early childhood educational programs for children with and without developmental disabilities.
“The commitment of the entire project team is the foundation for success on this project,” said Corbett Nichter, Senior Vice President with AP. “From the very beginning, the entire team – owner, architect, contractor, subs – has been aligned towards a common goal: to build a quality facility that will serve the clients of the YMCA for many years to come, all while being a great neighbor to the University Park community.”
“Today’s ceremony marks another milestone in the journey to opening the new Moody Family YMCA,” said John Palms, Park Cities YMCA Board of Management Chair. “We are extremely pleased with the progress on the project. It is exciting to realize in just six short months we will have a state of the art YMCA, which can better serve the Park Cities community for generations to come.”
