AP Wyoming Completes Phase 3 of the Natrona County High School Historic Renovation
Casper, WY (PRWEB) September 14, 2015 -- AP Wyoming and Natrona County School District No. 1 recently marked the completion of Phase 3 of the Natrona County High School Historic Renovation project. This is the third of six phases scheduled over the four-year project being completed on the school’s fully occupied campus. The project is being designed by Bassetti Architects.
The original 1924 high school was once attended by former Vice President Dick Cheney. The $95M renovation includes a 115,000-sf historic portion of the building to include an updated theater, classrooms and administrative spaces. The exterior brick and terra cotta will be restored, and exterior windows will be replaced and restored to their original intent. Demolition of later additions to the original building will allow for the 145,000-sf addition to include a new competition gymnasium, kitchen, commons and courtyard, library, vocational classrooms and labs.
“We are excited to be a part of this historic project,” said Anthony Durst of AP Wyoming. “It’s an honor to work with Natrona County School District and with the local community in combining the past with the present to serve this community’s long-term needs.”
So far, the completed three phases have included:
• Phase 1: Early site development, involving the demolition of 15 houses, existing parking lots and new electrical, IT, sanitary and storm and gas infrastructure.
• Phase 2: A new 101,800-sf fitness center, including a 20,000-sf mezzanine serving as a weight room, fitness room and wrestling room; an activity center for the high school and swing space for project phases 3 through 6, including library and cafeteria space.
• Phase 3: Renovation of the high school’s northeast wing, which serves as a commons area and focal point for the high school.
Phases 4 through 6 will include renovations to the south/southeast wing and theater wing, new classrooms and laboratories and tying back into the high school’s northeast wing. The project is expected to be complete end of summer of 2018.
