Apostolic Faith Mission to Grant Continuing Education Credit for Attending Christians for Biblical Equality’s 2016 Conference
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) August 29, 2016 -- Christians for Biblical Equality (CBE) is pleased to announce that attendance at its 2016 conference, “Truth Be Told: Speaking Out Against Gender Based Violence,” will grant pastors of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) continuing education credit.
After evaluating the conference program and speakers, the AFM determined any of its pastors who attend the event can receive one pastoral continuous development credit for each hour of the conference.
The AFM is South Africa’s largest Pentecostal denomination. Founded in 1908, it now has 1.4 million members and has a presence in 29 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
“Truth be Told” will address the theological foundations of gender-based violence. Dr. Mimi Haddad, CBE’s president, stressed the importance of this conversation for pastors. “In every corner of the world, violence against women is rampant. All too often, church teachings are actually part of the problem. Misinterpretations and distortions of the Bible’s intent for male-female relationships often lead pastors to teach that gender-based hierarchy, with men over women, is God’s ideal. From this ideology flow countless abuses, and until the church teaches the Bible’s true message—that in Christ there is no gender-based hierarchy—no amount of effort will end violence against women. We cannot try to treat the symptoms while perpetuating the disease. Pastors need to attend this conference, and I salute the AFM for taking this step.”
“Truth Be Told” will be held September 14-17 at Rhema Bible Church in Johannesburg, South Africa, and is a collaboration of CBE, CBE-South Africa, and Gender Equality Matters in Africa.
