Appnovation Technologies Launches the Canopy Initiative
Vancouver, British Columbia (PRWEB) July 10, 2013 -- Appnovation Technologies today announced the launch of the Canopy Initiative. Originally conceived to integrate Drupal and Alfresco, Canopy has now evolved to become a multi-faceted initiative, led by Appnovation, with its mission “to enable organizations to freely innovate to meet their needs and desires through integrated open source technologies” such as Drupal, Alfresco and MuleSoft.
The original Canopy development began in 2009 after Appnovation realized the numerous benefits of combining open source Drupal with Alfresco, a world-class enterprise content management platform. The integration was successfully implemented for several clients, such as Mercy Health, and awarded “Partner Solution of the Year” in 2012 by Alfresco. The addition of Acquia, where great digital experiences begin, provides world-class expertise and tools for Drupal application assurance, cloud hosting and cloud services.

Recognizing the evolving nature of the open source market, Appnovation has developed the Canopy Initiative with the support of its partners Acquia, Alfresco and MuleSoft. The initiative will consist of the long term development and improvement of Seven Pillars: Partner Alignment, Partner Enablement, Reference Architectures, Best Practices Around Integration Methods, a Customer Council, a Code Base of Connectors, and Customer Case Studies.

The roadmap for the initiative includes eventual adoption of more mobile and big data technologies. First samples of code are in plans to be released later this summer to Drupal.org in the form of contributed modules. Appnovation will be hosting a webinar about the Canopy Initiative on July 16th in conjunction with Acquia, Alfresco and MuleSoft.
