AppZero Names Modernization as 2014 Top Enterprise IT Priority
Andover, MA (PRWEB) December 04, 2013 -- AppZero, the fastest, most flexible way to move server applications, announced today its predictions for top Enterprise IT priorities as we head into 2014. Based on its research and work within the industry, AppZero declares modernization as the top priority for any Enterprise IT department.
As Windows Server 2003 reaches end of support in July 2015, enterprises need to move their applications onto a newer operating system, or find themselves at risk with no patches or security updates. According to a recent survey produced by AppZero, industry experts estimate that there are more than 10 million machines still running Windows Server 2003. AppZero has the only automated tool on the market to migrate applications onto newer operating systems.
AppZero and Microsoft are conducting a joint webcast on Wednesday, December 11 at 11:00am (EST) to show companies how to prepare for the end of support of WS2003. You can register for the https://www..gotomeeting.com/register/195494090 [event here __title__ ].
Wayne Pauley, Senior Analyst with the Enterprise Strategy Group says, “With Windows Server 2003 still running on millions of servers, updates can be painful for the enterprise. They are often put off until a forcing function like the end of support arrives and there’s no longer anyway to avoid the update. Add to this the pressure for enterprise IT to migrate applications to the cloud. Fortunately companies like AppZero have come up with a solution to both of these problems with one automated solution that performs the migration to the cloud and updates Windows with several version options.”
“As we are talking to customers, we hear their concerns day in and day out,” said Greg O’Connor, CEO of AppZero. “Now that we are just 18 months away from the end of support, this is becoming a true priority for their 2014 planning. For automated migration, AppZero offers the only solution.”
According to a research report produced last month by GigaOm, there are seven options when it comes to planning for end-of-support and each organization needs to balance the cost and risk. The options are: taking no specific action; isolating servers running the old OS; enlisting paid custom support; retiring those assets using, or running, on the old OS; manual migration to a newer version of Windows Server; automated migration to a newer version of Windows Server; and migration to cloud-based infrastructure running a newer version of Windows Server.
