APT Index June Restaurant Sales Increase [+2.6%]: West Coast Performs Well, While Heavy Storms Affect Sales In Other Areas
WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) July 13, 2015 -- Applied Predictive Technologies (APT) announced today that the APT Index of restaurant sales increased [+2.6%] nationwide in June 2015, compared to June of last year, driven by an increase in check size [+3.6%]. Though sales comps were positive overall, performance varied across the U.S. based on how much it rained in different areas.
“We suspect that Tropical Storm Bill and other harsh weather events had people staying at home this month in the areas affected,” said Patrick O’Reilly, APT President & COO. “Restaurants have been performing well this year, so even though all cities had positive sales comps compared with last June, you can see that cities where these storms hit seemed to feel the effects.”

The APT Index aggregates data from sales registers at over 100,000 stores and restaurants across the U.S. to show how year-over-year sales performance changes. Unlike other sources, the APT Index is based on actual sales data, allowing APT to make statistically significant observations about retail and restaurant sales. As a result, we believe the APT Index provides the most definitive, accurate, and geographically-targeted analysis of retail and restaurant sales available.
