In 1957, Joseph Casteleneto and his partner purchased Sunrock Auto Parts, to rebuild engines and sell auto parts, and became well-known in Jamaica, Queens and Brooklyn to anyone who needed engine parts customized or repaired. In 1981, Joseph's son, Robert Casteleneto, along with his friend and new business partner, James Hughes, bought an old pharmacy at 145-91 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., and moved the business to this location. It was still very much a family business, with Bob's mother working in the shop as the bookkeeper until her eightieth birthday.
