Architecture and Design Firm ADD Inc is Reshaping Collins Avenue in Miami Beach with the Renovation of Four More Historic Hotels
Miami, Florida (PRWEB) June 09, 2014 -- What started out with the renovation of the Shelborne South Beach and Gale South Beach & Regent Hotel by ADD Inc, the architectural and design firm known for award-winning hotel renovation projects in South Florida, has expanded to include four additional hotel properties along Collins Avenue, one of the most renowned streets in the world.
When the Berkeley Shore, Haddon Hall, San Juan and the Aloft South Beach are completed, ADD Inc, with offices in Miami and Boston, will have renovated and restored Miami Beach’s most architecturally historic hotels.

Designed by some of the most prominent architects during the Art Deco period, ADD Inc has carefully restored each hotel’s timeless qualities, historical elements and details, while merging them with a new modern aesthetic.
Berkeley Shore Hotel, 1610 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida
First designed by famous Art Deco architect, Albert Anis, ADD Inc will renovate 64 hotel units, a ground floor restaurant and upper and lower rooftop decks. A new, ten-story tower with 33 rooms and a rooftop garden and pool will be added. The interiors were inspired by Miami Beach’s natural elements, with warm neutrals, pops of color throughout and extensive use of wood, stone, textural and tactile elements. Guestroom layouts are open and contemporary. The hotel is expected to be completed in late 2015.
Haddon Hall Hotel, 1500 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida
A three-building structure, ADD Inc will renovate two of the buildings that were designed in the 1940’s - Campton Apartments by Henry Hohauser and Haddon Hall by L. Murray Dixon. The third building, built in the 1970’s, will be restored. Historical details, such as the fountain and statue by 1920’s sculptor, Robert Schwarz, and the entry pillars will remain, as will the building’s signage, ornamented fireplace and Art Deco lighting fixtures. Haddon Hall will have a modern cabana architectural concept, and the color scheme will take on an elegant, tropical modern approach with a fun, fresh, retro vibe. New additions to the hotel will include a courtyard with an indoor and outdoor restaurant, bar, library, n gym, juice bar, cabanas and trellis. The hotel is expected to be completed in late 2015.
San Juan Hotel, 1680 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida
Originally designed by architect Henry Hohauser in 1948, ADD Inc is redesigning the three-story, 76-room hotel’s guest rooms, public spaces and exteriors with a classic postwar modern style and nautical influences reminiscent of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, with warm woods, brass details, marble and touches of navy and burlap. The hotel’s guest rooms, public spaces and pool area will be refurbished creating a new, intimate boutique hotel experience. The hotel is expected to be completed in early 2015.
Aloft South Beach, 2360 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida
When Aloft South Beach opens in early 2015, it will showcase the renovation of Motel Ankara, a MiMo architectural landmark originally built in 1954, and the addition of an eight-story hotel tower. The first newly constructed hotel in South Beach since 2009, Aloft South Beach will have 235 spacious, loft-like rooms, roof deck lounge, pool and fitness center. Design and furnishings were chosen to strike a balance between the hotel’s brand elements, its beachside location, and the property’s historic significance. Open loft layouts and earthy palettes of concrete and maple wood offer a nod to the Aloft brand. Hues of blues, greens and yellows conjure up the beach, and in homage to the Aloft signature “swoosh”, the building is topped with an angular roof feature that is inspired by the historic Motel Ankara signage on the North end of the building.
