Arcserve Data Protection Solution Reduces Backup Footprint by 82 Percent for San Mateo Credit Union
Minneapolis, Minnesota (PRWEB) December 16, 2015 -- Arcserve, LLC, a leading provider of data protection and recovery software and services, today announced that San Mateo Credit Union (SMCU) has significantly reduced its storage footprint while protecting its server environment with Arcserve Unified Data Protection (UDP) Appliance, the award-winning “set and forget” backup and recovery solution.
Due to the recent expansion of its member-owner base, SMCU needed a next-generation data protection solution that could protect its hybrid environment while reducing its storage requirements. In August, 2015, SCMU switched to Arcserve to leverage its cost-effective, proprietary global deduplication capabilities and high availability protection. The financial cooperative saw immediate and significant improvements in testing flexibility and storage capacity.
“We began to shop around for a new backup solution, first reaching out to a few traditional backup vendors. I found that their solutions were quite a bit more expensive than I expected, and my local IT consultant recommended I take a look at Arcserve,” says Mark Mueller, Senior Electronic Delivery Analyst at SMCU.
Following a successful trial, SMCU was able to deploy Arcserve’s UDP Appliance within two hours and is now benefiting from space and cost savings driven by an 82 percent reduction in necessary storage capacity.
“The installation process went very smoothly. In fact, I was amazed how easy it was,” said Mueller. “It’s incredible that with all of the machines under protection, we can protect over 25TBs of data but only store 4.5TBs on the appliance. I’m confident that even with our anticipated data growth, we will have plenty of capacity.”
With the UDP Appliance, SMCU can now:
• Configure different backup schedules for different applications, with extended retention schedules
• Quickly test recovery processes, including full system restores without system interruption
• Dramatically reduce its storage capacity and associated storage costs with Arcserve’s proprietary deduplication technology
• Increase operational agility and efficiency with one unified management console and simple plan-based data protection policies
