Area’s Leading Glaucoma Specialist Raju Sarwal, MD Expands His Coverage Into Smithtown For SightMD
Hauppauge, New York (PRWEB) January 29, 2018 -- Patients at risk for glaucoma – or those who have been diagnosed with this leading cause of blindness – will now have access to one of the area’s leading glaucoma specialists, Raju Sarwal, MD, who today announced his expanded glaucoma coverage into Smithtown for SightMD, according to eye surgeon,Jeffrey Martin, MD, FACS, Chief Executive Officer of SightMD.
Dr. Sarwal is the current president of the Suffolk Ophthalmology Society and has been recognized by Best Doctors of America every year since 2009. He is a frequent lecturer at the largest ophthalmology meetings in the United States and helps mentor other glaucoma doctors in the greater New York area.
Starting February 1, 2018, Dr. Sarwal will provide comprehensive glaucoma services for patients in the Smithtown office located at 260 Middle Country Road, Suite 201. His hours in Smithtown on the 1st, 3rd and 4th Thursdays of each month will be from 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM. Glaucoma patients at the Smithtown SightMD location were previously being seen by Glaucoma Consultants, who will no longer see patients at SightMD after January 31.

After completing his undergraduate work at University of Pennsylvania in 1994 - where he graduated magna cum laude – Dr. Sarwal earned his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in 1998. He completed his ophthalmology residency at University of Illinois at Chicago Eye and Ear Infirmary in 2002 and received his sub specialty training in glaucoma at the Duke Eye Center in Durham, North Carolina in 2003.
Dr. Sarwal is on faculty at Good Samaritan Hospital, Southside Hospital, and Long Island Ambulatory Surgery Center and is an active member of the American Glaucoma Society, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American Medical Association.
