Melville, NY (PRWEB) June 09, 2017 -- The latest breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the most common vision-threatening conditions will be discussed by SightMD surgeons during their lectures to primary eye care practitioners at the upcoming 14th Semi-Annual Continuing Education Symposium, according to eye surgeon, Jeffrey Martin, MD, FACS, Chief Executive Officer of SightMD.

SightMD’s semi-annual events continue to be among the most popular and successful optometric educational symposiums of the year. This year’s event is once again being held at the Huntington Hilton in Melville, NY on Sunday, June 11th, where an experienced faculty will lecture on a wide variety of topics, including: Laser Cataract Surgery, Continuous Depth of Focus Cataract Lens Implants, LASIK laser vision correction, Unexpected Vision Loss, Retinal Vascular Disorders, Herpectic Eye Disease, Tearing & Dry Eye Treatment, Glaucoma Management, Ocular Cosmetic Surgery and cornea-related issues like keratoconus and other ectatic disorders.
A total of 6 credit hours of continuing education – approved in both New York & Florida – will be presented. Faculty for this year’s event includes Dr. Martin, who will Emcee the event and lecture on the latest updates on cataract removal, lens implantation, laser cataract surgery and LASIK laser vision correction. Other faculty members include Dr. Lawrence Buono, Dr. Edward Marcus, Dr. Faye Knoll, Dr. Paul Krawitz, Dr. Sam Baharestani and Dr. John Passarelli.
Dr. Martin will open 14th Semi-Annual symposium as moderator for our initial session on cataract and refractive surgical updates. Dr. John Passarelli will lead off the session with a lecture on new lens implant technology for presbyopic correction. Dr. Alanna Nattis will follow with a lecture on treatment for keratoconus and ectasia. Dr. Martin will finish up the cataract discussion with a lecture on the surgical correction of astigmatism.
Retinal specialist, Dr. Edward Marcus will end the first morning session with a lecture on retinal vascular disorders, occlusions and aneurysms. After our morning break, Dr. Faye Knoll will moderate a session on ‘Herpectic Eye Disease, which includes lectures by Dr. Paul Krawitz and Dr. Marcus on how glaucoma and the retina are effected by Herpectic Eye Disease.
Prior to our lunch break, several case studies on ‘Unexplained Visual Loss’ will be presented by Dr. Lawrence Buono. Dr. Krawitz will moderate the first afternoon session discussing supplements and eye health, which will be followed by Dr. Samuel Baharestani, who will finish up the afternoon lectures as moderator for ‘A Clinical Approach to the Tearing Patient ‘.
