ARRI Collaborates With Freefly To Prove The Versatility of the ALEXA Mini
Woodinville, WA (PRWEB) February 23, 2015 -- Designed for use in mobile scenarios, the ALEXA Mini is the next iteration in the ALEXA line of cameras for film and television production. To demonstrate the camera’s capabilities, ARRI and Freefly matched the camera with the MōVI M15 and CineStar platforms early on, to prove the case for a broad range of amazing results.
The ALEXA Mini is the latest camera to incorporate the industry-standard image quality and the economical workflows of the ALEXA series, while also adapting to the streamlined ergonomics and compact form factor desired with the MōVI M15 camera stabilizer. The MōVI M15 and the MōVI Controller together are especially well-suited to illustrate the quality of results expected from the ALEXA Mini by the most demanding filmmakers.
To show a sample of what is possible, Freefly and ARRI collaborated on “The Balloonist,” the first production with the new camera. Tabb Firchau, president of Freefly, recounted that one of the most-asked questions in his career has been, “’Can you guys fly an ALEXA on your rigs?’ The answer is now a resounding ‘Yes!’” Several shots from “The Balloonist” featured the new camera mounted on a Freefly CineStar 8 multi-rotor. “To be asked to work closely with one of the oldest and most respected camera manufacturers in the world is very flattering. Freefly will have the MōVI M15 on exhibit at the British Video Expo from February 24-26, 2015, in Booth C30 – and in Booth J30, ARRI will be exhibiting a prototype of the ALEXA Mini, which is scheduled to begin shipping in May 2015, with orders being taken from March.
