Arrowaste, Inc. Predicts it Will Divert Six Million Pounds of Food Waste From Landfills to Compost Facilities By 2016
Jenison, MI (PRWEB) December 17, 2015 -- Throughout 2015, residential and commercial waste removal and recycling company Arrowaste Inc., expects its separate Sustainability Division and service, New Soil, Inc. to successfully divert approximately six million pounds of food waste from landfills into compost facilities by the end of this year.
After an increase in demand for this type of service, especially from businesses such as restaurants, by clients who were interested in increasing their landfill diversion, Arrowaste Inc. wanted to make this option more widely available.
As a result, Arrowaste's New Soil, Inc. division will now pickup any food waste from businesses for transportation to compost facilities.
Along with reducing the waste taking up landfill space, composting also helps the environment by encouraging moisture retention. This reduces the amount of water required for plants to thrive, while simultaneously diminishing green house gas emissions produced by landfills.
Companies have shown excitement about diverting their food waste away from landfills for multiple reasons.
Besides just reducing their environmental impact, composting can set a business apart from competition and unrelated institutions alike, by being associated with the elite class of businesses that are going green.
With the recent increased focus on transparency, people are more worried about business practices. This waste disposal option can show a community that a business has good intentions.

According to the U.S. compost council, an estimated 72% of the current waste stream is organic and can be composted. Arrowaste's leading initiative revolves around the goal of properly composting or recycling all trash produced, to ensure the longevity of landfills.

Data compiled from waste diverted since January 2015 indicates that Arrowaste will have have diverted up to 3,000 tons -- about six million pounds -- of food waste from landfills to compost facilities by January 2016.
This redirecting food waste process is the next big trend in the disposal industry.
