Amador County, California (PRWEB) April 23, 2014 -- When artist Donna Bernstein painted Into the Light, an homage to the plight of America’s wild horses and the efforts to save them, she had no idea that the painting would inspire a joint venture with Morse Wines - based in Fiddletown, CA - and Return to Freedom’s American Wild Horse Sanctuary.
Donna Bernstein (http://www.donnabernstein.com) is a contemporary equine artist, based in McCall, ID and Scottsdale, AZ. Her paintings and sculpture can be seen in galleries and collections around the world. Both elegant and joyful, her work embodies the presence and power of the inspirational equine. "I have learned it is not horses that I paint," she says; "I paint how they make me feel. Into the Light expresses the magnificent energy of our American Mustang, and I am honored to join with Morse Wines in supporting Return to Freedom on their behalf."
“The inspiration of a cause that stirs one’s soul, paired with the creation of beautiful art and wine, have inspired our “Horseplay” Collection. Artist Donna Bernstein skillfully depicts the wild mustang on our first vintage label, expressing the regal energy and nobility of these symbols of the American West. Three of our 2011 Sierra Foothills estate grown grape varietals, Mourvedre, Barbera, and Montepulciano are playfully blended in a wine that captures the spirit of the American horse and horseman. Morse Wines is thankful for the opportunity to contribute 15% of the proceeds of this wine to Return to Freedom and we hope that you will share in our quest to save this enduring symbol of American freedom” commented Rob Morse of Morse Wines (http://www.morsewines.com).
Return to Freedom (http://www.returntofreedom.org) is a nonprofit wild horse preservation organization based in Lompoc, CA. Founded in 1997, the organization works to preserve America’s dwindling wild horse herds through sanctuary, conservation, education and advocacy.
The Horseplay label will be released on May 3rd, 2014 at the Return to Freedom sanctuary during their annual benefit and spring release of the herds. Guests will get to taste the vintage for the first time as well as bid on the original painting, Into the Light, which will be featured in the silent auction, proceeds from which are being directly donated by Donna B to Return to Freedom.
Return to Freedom Founder Neda DeMayo commented “Every year in the spring, we release our herds from their winter holding paddocks. It is a celebratory and magical event that honors freedom, playfulness, and community. The release of the Horseplay label is a great compliment to our event and the perfect way to highlight the collaboration between Return to Freedom, Morse Wines and Donna Bernstein. It is this kind of partnership and community that is needed to preserve what remains of our wildlife and wilderness areas.”

About Morse Wines
Robert Morse, the founder of MORSE WINES (http://www.morsewines.com), purchased the estate property in 1999. His desire was to create a place where lovers of fine wine could find exceptional values in wines that best express the terroir of our region. He selected varietals that would thrive in the region, and which therefore had the best potential for producing world class wines. MORSE WINES' picturesque, serene property is located near the border of Amador and El Dorado Counties. It is at approximately a 2300 foot elevation, with groves of pine trees as well as ancient oaks. MORSE WINES currently produces about 4,500 cases of wine annually, projected to increase to 10,000 cases. Most are small production wines, under 500 cases.
